OAP

The Ontario Association of Pathologists (OAP) is a distinguished medical society founded in 1937 to promote excellence in pathology and laboratory medicine in Ontario. With a current membership of approximately three hundred specialist physicians, OAP represents the interests of patients, the public, and pathologists by advocating for high standards of knowledge, diagnostic skills, and ethics. Pathologists are experts in cancer diagnosis, laboratory test utilization in medical practice, and forensic pathology.

OAP plays a vital role in representing pathologists in discussions with government and healthcare agencies, as well as developing key planning documents for medical and laboratory practice. The Association's mission is to enhance the quality and accessibility of pathology services, promote the scientific interests of its members, and foster research in pathology. OAP is committed to acknowledging and honoring the traditional territories of Indigenous peoples and contributing to advancing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action
