Petities

Petities.nl is an initiative founded in February 2004 by ReindeR Rustema, Arjan Widlak, and Michiel Leenaars, officially registered in the Dutch Chamber of Commerce. Since its launch on May 1, 2005, Petities.nl has aimed to simplify the petition process for Dutch citizens, enabling them to easily create and sign petitions demanding responses on various issues. The platform expanded its services in June 2008 by allowing petition recipients to open dedicated channels to manage and respond to petitions.

Operated by a dedicated board including Rustema, Johan Kok, Liesbeth Dillo, and Leenaars, the foundation relies on professional volunteers, grants, temporary support, and donations to sustain its services. Recognized as a Non-Profit Organization, Petities.nl invites users to donate and offers tax-deductible options. The site is supported by technical volunteers from the Open Domein association, ensuring secure communication and reliable functionality. With ongoing campaigns addressing significant societal issues, Petities.nl continues to foster civic engagement and advocacy throughout the Netherlands.
