San Diego MTS

The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is the primary public transit provider in San Diego County, servicing an expansive area of approximately 570 square miles. With a fleet of nearly 1,000 vehicles, including all-electric trolleys and near-zero emission buses, MTS plays a critical role in promoting sustainable transportation. The system operates a comprehensive range of transit services, including fixed-route buses, Trolley, and ADA-compliant paratransit via MTS Access.

MTS manages four light rail lines with 62 stations, alongside nearly 100 bus routes tailored to meet diverse community needs. Annually, MTS facilitates around 88 million passenger trips, providing essential connectivity across urban and rural areas. In addition to transit services, MTS oversees the licensing of for-hire vehicle services, ensuring safety and regulation throughout the region.
