The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is a vital public transportation agency serving the City of Chicago and 35 surrounding suburbs. Established in 1947, CTA operates one of the largest transit systems in the United States, offering reliable and affordable transportation with a mission to connect people, jobs, and communities. On an average weekday, over 765,000 rides are taken on its extensive network.

CTA provides two primary services: buses and rail ("The 'L'"). The bus system includes 128 routes, executing more than 25,000 trips daily across nearly 12,000 stops, making it the most frequented mode of transport for riders. For rail service, the 'L' features eight rapid transit lines that span approximately 224 miles, with a combination of above-ground, underground, and surface tracks.
